Swale Branch Pub of the Year 2015, 2016 and again in 2017
The Paper Mill Micropub
Pub of the Year for 2015, 2016 and again in 2017 is the Paper Mill in Charlotte Street, Sittingbourne. This well-deserved award recognised the quality and variety of ale, the community focus and the support for CAMRA’s campaigns. Swale’s first Micropub, which opened in October 2013, won from over 80 Swale pubs that serve real ale.
This completes a hat trick of wins for the Micropub which has recently hosted a number of brewery tap takeovers including a very popular Howling Hops preview weekend.
The photograph above shows owners Marianne and Harvey Melia joined by many of their regulars to receive the 2016 award in May 2016, which featured a wide selection of popular ales. The 2017 presentation is being arranged.
Commenting on their success, Harvey said: “To win this prestigious award three years in a row is amazing, it’s a very proud day for us all. Our thanks to all the CAMRA members that voted for us and the support we have had from all of our customers and regulars that have made the pub as successful as it is.”
The Paper Mill will once again go forward to battle it out in the regional heats. It was narrowly beaten in 2016 by the Yard of Ale, a National finalist in 2015.
